Estimatoolis a small, independent collection of estimate calculators for home projects — flooring, roofing, HVAC sizing, and more to come. It's for homeowners, DIYers, and contractors who want a real number before they walk into a store or get on the phone with a quote. Every tool is free, runs in your browser, and gets straight to the point.
Why it exists
Most “calculator” sites are slow, buried in ads, and gated behind email walls — and half of them give you a single number with no context. We wanted the opposite: tools that load fast, explain their assumptions, and respect your time and your privacy. The site is funded by ads, but the tools come first.

How we think about accuracy
Every calculator here produces an estimate — material counts, cost ranges, BTU loads. We are deliberate about labeling them as estimates, showing honest low-to-high ranges instead of false precision, and documenting the formulas and assumptions behind them right on the page. The goal is to help you plan and sanity-check a quote, not to replace one. For the work itself, confirm with a contractor and a firm bid.
Privacy
The calculations happen on your device. We do not require accounts, and the inputs you type into a tool are not sent to our servers. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture, including how third-party advertising works.

How we estimate & where our numbers come from
2026 US baselines. Each calculator starts from national-average material and labor prices for June 2026, drawn from current supplier pricing and published contractor cost data. Every price is an editable default — you can override it with a real local quote and the estimate updates.
Regional scaling. A US-state region factor scales the location-sensitive parts of the estimate — labor rates and permit costs — using RSMeans / BLS-style regional cost differentials. It deliberately does not scale commodity materials (lumber, concrete, copper, shingles), which track national markets rather than local labor.
Honest ranges. We show a low / realistic / high range instead of one false-precision number. The realistic figure is the typical mid-market job; the low and high ends are that figure times each tool's low and high multipliers (roughly 0.85–0.9× and 1.2–1.4×) to cover budget vs. premium materials, easy vs. difficult access, and normal price swing.
What's excluded. Estimates cover the typical scope shown on each tool. They exclude unusual site conditions, structural or engineering work, hidden damage and repairs, hauling or disposal beyond what's noted, and local taxes. These are planning estimates — confirm final pricing with a licensed local contractor before you commit.
